Good bye. See you soon. Hi!

I met many people during my time in the Netherlands. Friends and colleagues were made. I was lucky to have a handful who I can count as family. Even tough this is normal, it doesn't cease to amaze me.  Life here or there continues, unfolds on its own particular way just as anywhere else. Before I left Brazil I wondered how life worked in other countries. Will I make a new best friend? Will someone care if I'm sad or lonely? But I don't think so much about it anymore. Well, actually I do but only for really peculiar cultures. I suppose that I finally learned the lesson, such a cliché, that people are just people. We're all different, unique but, at the same time, share many common things with one another. Yep, it's a classical duality, antagonist ideas but that make total sense, exist in balance.
In our good bye party many of the people I met showed up. It was an honor and a pleasure. Once again, thank you for showing up! With some I feel that we'll hardly ever see each other again so I said a sincere good bye. Not that I want it but that's life and I embrace it. To the others closer to my heart I had only a feeling of "see you soon" and I'm pretty positive that we'll always keep in touch and we'll keep meeting up sharing many special moments together. We'll be always connected no matter how far. Those friends will be dearly missed.
Now I look forward to the future and to all the new amazing people I'll meet on the road, hostels, queues, bars, bus, laundry places and who knows where. Is there a limit for how many people you can hold dear in your heart? Well, I'm confident I can fit more in my own heart because love is infinite, isn't it? Just don't be spooked when I say: Hi! I'm Will from Brazil.

WOW Time

1/30/2015 0 Comments

We actually realized this week that we are almost there...by "there" i mean the day#1 of our trip!! WOW, January simply passed by, so fast!

We have been so busy that it sounds a little insane to look back and see how many different things we managed to manage. WOW!

Girls going nuts

Family in Sintra
To name just a few things we did: We planned our wedding, that got a little bigger than what we initially imagined; We got surprised by our friends for partying hard on our bachelor(ette) parties one in Lisbon and the other in Amsterdam <3; And we also hosted the Brazilian and Dutch families in Portugal <3.
Our wedding guests' gift - DIY fabric tulips

It wasn't always easy, we had time running after us, but all went perfectly fine. We loved to gather so much love around.

I had no idea how cool it is to get married - Let's repeat it, Will?! :) :)

And here we are, a few days before departure, packing, planning (a bit) our trip, preparing our blog to you, saying goodbye again...

Time...Time is sometimes odd, or it's perceived in odd ways.
Happy Times though.

Santiago's Path

If you ask me, what was Santiago's Path for me?!

I don't know very well how to speak about it now...maybe it's too early or I'm too tired or I'm still in an amazing  euphoria - that same euphoria that was part of me these 5days...

Santiago's Path is too much, it's too amazing, it's intense and grateful. It's painful but make you thankful for everything: your health, comfort, friends, family, love, clean clothes, food...I could go on and on.

I don't know anybody that has ever regret to do the Santiago's Path - and now I know why.

Some of my favorite pictures are here...I can't write much more now...

Santiago

In December 2013, a little over a year ago at Sé do Porto, when turisting around, I saw a little colorful painted square in a wall. These were two arrows: One blue and the other yellow, representing Fátima and Santiago paths, respectively.

I took a picture of them. I wished in that moment to walk the Santiago path, I wasn't sure though if I would be able to do it one day.
The truth is I thought about it several times during 2014: the fact that my sister is doing the path from Lisbon in stages, that another good friend did it from Valença certaintly kept the idea around me throughout the year. Even though, I guess, the major life changing decisions that 2014 brought me (or that I brought to 2014?!?) convinced me that I had to do it too.

And so I decided. In 2015 it is. In January 2015, in the exact same spot at Sé do Porto, we bought our compostela or the pass for the hostels.  We took a picture today with both arrows again.

Will had me as his motivation, he says. If I really think about it, I'm not sure what is my motivation, I just know and feel that I need to go. We will be following the yellow arrows for at least 100km in the Portuguese path to reach Santiago. From Valença do Minho until Santiago de Compostela.

Happy and adventurous 2015 everyone!!!
